The Texas Rangers have been thrown a medical curveball this offseason. Center fielder Evan Carter underwent surgery to repair the labrum in his right hip and is unlikely to be ready for the start of the 2027 season. The Rangers will shift their offseason priorities some to address center field, president of baseball operations Chris Young said during a conference call with Rangers reporters. The Rangers will also focus on their bullpen this offseason, Young said, but will have to do so with the same budget as this season. However, Young said that the Rangers do not have to trade their highest-priced players to create financial wiggle room.
